Taylor Swift's alleged stalker remains elusive as a private investigator hired by the pop star has been unable to locate 45-year-old Brian Jason Wagner. A court extended Swift's temporary restraining order against him through Sept. 22, and the singer's security team has mounted heightened precautions for public appearances, including her attendance at a Kansas City Chiefs game behind what investigators described as a bullet resistant screen.

Brooke Berg, a licensed private investigator working for Swift, filed a declaration stating Wagner had not responded to a Sept. 15 phone call or text messages and that the respondent had not been reachable at last known Colorado addresses. Berg said she conducted personal service and stakeout attempts at multiple addresses from June through July, but found no positive sightings. She reviewed affidavits from neighbors and other individuals tied to the addresses to determine whether Wagner resided there and concluded he is likely transient or actively concealing his whereabouts.

Swift's lawyers sought to extend the TRO and provide more time to locate Wagner after a Sept. 12 hearing, which resulted in a new date set for Sept. 22. Court filings describe Wagner as unresponsive and elusive, and insiders say Swift remains concerned about the stalker’s depraved behavior and online activity by groups targeting her on social media, a factor in decisions to alter travel or promotional plans if threats are deemed serious by security teams.

Berg’s earlier filings recount an August exchange in which Wagner finally answered a call but denied involvement in the legal matter. He claimed no fixed address, sometimes said he was in Beverly Hills but then suggested he was elsewhere, and he said he would know by a certain date where he would be living. He indicated that a meeting to serve documents could be arranged using a preferred number.

Court documents recount Swift alleging that Wagner previously went to her home at least three times in July 2024, including an alleged visit with a glass bottle that could have been used as a weapon. Swift said he had addressed her as wifey in emails and that he had changed his driver license address to her Los Angeles residence and attempted to divert mail. She sought an order staying at least 100 yards away from her home, workplace and car.

Swift has long been targeted by stalkers, and the episode has intensified precautions ahead of public appearances. In recent weeks an insider noted that the Charlie Kirk assassination and threats from extreme groups online have heightened security concerns, prompting swift changes to schedules and protective measures at venues.

Last Sunday Swift arrived at Arrowhead Stadium to support fiancé Travis Kelce, entering unseen behind what officials described as a bullet resistant screen. An insider said the screen was used to keep her safe, a precaution that security teams have used in the past for high profile figures and presidents, though the move drew attention to the ongoing risk she faces.

The Daily Mail said it has sought comment from Swift's representative but did not indicate a response.
