Tori Evans, a backup dancer for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, has drawn criticism from fans after posting photos of her attire from Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce. The gown, a strapless satin dress, was perceived by many as too bridal and a violation of wedding guest etiquette due to its color.
Swift and Kelce held their wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, reportedly inviting around 1,000 guests. Evans shared images of herself and her husband at the event on Instagram, which quickly led to backlash in the comments section.
Fans pointed out that the dress appeared to be white or a very light cream color, shades traditionally avoided by wedding guests to prevent detracting from the bride. "The ultimate fashion faux-pas," one commenter wrote, with others echoing sentiments that wearing white to a wedding is a basic breach of etiquette.
Evans' husband defended her outfit, stating that the dress was a "pink champagne color" and that the lighting at the venue had made it appear white. However, this explanation did not quell the criticism from some fans who maintained that the dress was too close to white, regardless of the lighting conditions.
"If you have to explain and if it shows white in certain lighting, it’s not fine," one user commented. Another added, "You don't wear nothing close to white in a wedding NEVER it is common sense."
The wedding itself was a star-studded event, with guests including Gigi Hadid, Lena Dunham, Steven Spielberg, and Selena Gomez. Following the ceremony, the celebration reportedly featured performances by musicians such as Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, and Tim McGraw.
