Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's highly anticipated wedding, estimated to have cost $50 million, transformed New York's Madison Square Garden into an elaborate 'garden within the Garden.' The nuptials, which took place over four days, were attended by approximately 1,000 guests, including a wide array of stars from the entertainment industry.
Sir Paul McCartney performed "I Want To Hold Your Hand," and actor Adam Sandler served as the surprise officiant for the ceremony. The Empire State Building was illuminated in sapphire blue as a tribute to Swift, symbolizing her 'something blue.'
Guests described the venue's transformation, which included full-sized trees, tens of thousands of peach and white roses, and custom carpeting and drapery in blush pink and peach hues. Lanterns and candles contributed to a romantic ambiance, with various rooms decorated in a "whimsical Tinkerbell fairytale theme."
Among the notable attendees were Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Sacha Baron Cohen, Hugh Grant, Reese Witherspoon, Graham Norton, Ethan Hawke, Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn, Cindy Crawford, Suki Waterhouse, Emma Stone, Beyonce and Jay-Z, Dua Lipa, Jessica Alba, Chris Rock, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, and Gigi Hadid. Swift's brother Austin served as her "man of honour," while Kelce's brother Jason was his best man. Jason's daughters were flower girls.
Adam Sandler, who met Kelce after the football player had a cameo in "Happy Gilmore 2," qualified as an officiant for the ceremony. His officiating was described as warm, welcoming, funny, and eloquent, incorporating talks and songs. Following the vows, Madison Square Garden's outdoor screens displayed "JusT&T Married!"
The wedding reception reportedly featured buffet stations with sushi, lobster, oysters, and a roast beef carvery. Guests received parting gifts of white lace handkerchiefs embroidered with the couple's initials and a line from Swift's song "Blank Space." A vintage red 1970s Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport with a custom license plate also featured in one of the reception rooms.
Details of the event had been subject to speculation for months. Swift and Kelce reportedly met with Prince William and Princess Kate in London in May, where the royals offered their well wishes. However, the event also drew a pointed social media post from former President Donald Trump, who had reportedly fallen out with Swift after she declined to endorse him during his re-election campaign. Actress Blake Lively was reportedly not invited following a falling out.
Swift and Kelce have not yet released official images from their wedding. The event was compared by guests to a combination of the Oscars, Grammys, and Emmys, with one guest calling it "one of the greatest shows I've ever been to."
