Rumors surrounding a potential wedding event for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have intensified following the filing of permits for street closures around Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City. Sources told TMZ that the permit request covers the area from July 2 to midday on July 4, including provisions for tents, canopies, and trucks.
City officials are reportedly proceeding with the assumption that a significant Swift-related event is planned for MSG. In parallel, multiple members of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce's only professional team, have reportedly booked accommodations at the Marriott Marquee in Times Square for the same dates.
Earlier in June, an insider told Daily Mail that the couple intended to hold their wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden, embracing the idea of a large-scale celebration. The venue, known for concerts and sporting events, has a capacity of up to 22,000 people, though the number of guests for the reported event remains undisclosed. Previously, the couple had reportedly considered Casa Cipriani, a private members' club in Manhattan's Financial District, as a potential venue, which might still be used for a private celebration.
The New York Police Department is said to be in discussions to provide security for MSG, with reports suggesting the wedding is scheduled for Friday, July 3. Swift's representative has not yet confirmed these plans. Swift was last seen at MSG on June 10, attending game four of the NBA Finals.
In April, reports indicated that businessman Michael Rubin had moved his annual July 4 party to July 1 to avoid conflict with the couple's wedding. Insiders also shared with The Daily Mail in May that guests would not be informed of the wedding location until the morning of July 3, citing security reasons. One guest had previously speculated that the couple might choose a large hotel ballroom, such as the Waldorf Astoria, for its security and accessibility.
Swift and Kelce publicly confirmed their relationship in late 2023 after Swift attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game. Swift described their relationship in a 2023 interview with Time magazine as that of "just two people supporting each other doing what we love."
