Taylor Swift was not in attendance when her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, took the field for the team’s Week 2 home game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl.

Kelce, 35, entered Arrowhead Stadium in a notable ensemble — a suit jacket paired with shorts, dark sunglasses and a tie — and smiled for cameras as he made his way inside. Social media users reacted quickly to the look, with responses ranging from amusement to praise. One fan wrote, “Taylor Swift let him out like that?” while others criticized or applauded the outfit.

Swift, who has attended multiple Chiefs games since she and Kelce began dating in 2023 and who has traveled to Super Bowls and road games to watch him play, had been expected by some to appear at Arrowhead after the couple announced their engagement on Aug. 10. She previously attended the University of Cincinnati’s season opener at the stadium in August. On Sunday, however, she was not visible among the crowd.

Before the game, Kelce spoke about the proposal during a Fox Sports pregame segment with host Erin Andrews, a friend of the couple. Asked about his nerves when he proposed, Kelce said he had sweaty palms and was emotional, adding, “I was definitely… I’m an emotional guy so there were a few tears here and there.” He said the relationship has brought “excitement and a joy for life” and that it had made him “a better man” and more comfortable in himself.

The couple’s engagement announcement, shared on Swift’s Instagram after a private proposal in Missouri, drew widespread attention online. Swift revealed the couple’s engagement ring in the post and the image accrued tens of millions of likes.

Kelce also addressed speculation about his future in the NFL during the pregame interview, saying he had returned to play because he still enjoys the game. “You guys didn’t think I was going to come back? No way. I’m still a big kid on Sundays. I’ve still got a lot to prove,” he said. When asked what he hoped his legacy would be, he replied that he wanted to be remembered as “a good teammate, a good person in the community.”

Swift’s absence at Arrowhead on Sunday marked the first Chiefs home game she did not attend since the engagement announcement, according to accounts of the couple’s public appearances. The pair have maintained a high-profile relationship since 2023, appearing together at games and in public events. Neither Swift nor Kelce has provided a statement explaining her absence from Sunday’s home game.
