Television presenters Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic are expecting their third child. The couple announced the news on social media Sunday morning, sharing their excitement about welcoming a daughter.
Jeffreys, 40, and Stefanovic, 44, shared a photo with their two sons, Oscar, six, and Henry, five. "Oh baby... number 3 is on the way and the boys are already taking their big bro duties seriously," Jeffreys wrote on social media. "Swipe for the moment Oscar told us it's a GIRL! We hope she digs footy merch, because there'll be a lot of hand-me-downs. Jump on board, baby girl. It's fun here."
Several of Jeffreys's celebrity colleagues offered congratulations in the comments section. Fellow Channel Nine presenter Samantha Armytage wrote, "Amazing news Sylvia and Pete." Leila McKinnon added, "Yesss! Future netball mum incoming! This has made my day. So much love to you and Pete and the boys."
Jeffreys recently filled in as co-host for the Today show while its regular presenter, Sarah Abo, is on maternity leave. Jeffreys and her husband, News24 presenter Stefanovic, married in April 2017. Their first son, Oscar, was born in February 2020, and their second child arrived eight months later.
Reports have also suggested that Tom Steinfort and Samantha Armytage may be in line to host the Today show permanently after their recent appearances led to a ratings boost. Their tenure on the breakfast program reportedly increased viewership by 60,000 viewers. Channel Nine has been testing hosts for the show since Karl Stefanovic, Sylvia's brother-in-law, departed in June. Armytage is expected to take up her position on August 24, following a business trip to Thailand. In the interim, Jeffreys continues to co-host Today Extra alongside Steinfort.
