Sydney Sweeney is set to star in a contemporary reimagining of the classic tale "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." The project, titled "Hollow," is described as a feminist take on Washington Irving's 1820 short story, blending gothic atmosphere, psychological intrigue, and erotic thriller elements.
Lindsey Anderson Beer is writing, directing, and producing "Hollow." Beer's debut novel of the same name serves as the basis for the film. Sweeney, 28, is slated to portray the lead role of Van Tassel, who becomes entangled in a supernatural love triangle.
This role marks Sweeney's continued exploration of the erotic thriller genre. She previously starred in Amazon Prime Video's "The Voyeurs" and "The Housemaid."
The 1999 film adaptation of "Sleepy Hollow," starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, is a well-known previous screen version. A "Sleepy Hollow" television series also aired on Fox for four seasons between 2013 and 2017.
In addition to "Hollow," Sweeney has other projects in development, including a sequel to "The Housemaid" and the lead role in the sci-fi action film "Gundam," based on the anime series. She has also launched her own lingerie line, Syrn.
