Suzanne Shaw recently shared her experiences on her first holiday as a "solo parent" with her 10-year-old son, Raffi, following her split from fiancé Sam Greenfield. The former Hear'Say singer, 44, described the trip as a time for making "special memories" and creating their own adventures.
Shaw posted photos on Instagram showcasing her time with Raffi, including pictures of herself in swimwear that highlighted her toned physique. In one image, she is seen with Raffi, who is wearing an England football shirt. Another photo shows her relaxing on a sunbed in a yellow bikini.
"Precious times, making the most special memories with my Raffi," Shaw wrote in a caption. "Summer looked a little different for us both this year, but somehow it turned into one of the best summers I've had in years."
She admitted to initial uncertainty about undertaking a solo trip with her son but expressed surprise at how much she enjoyed it. "Just the two of us, having our own little adventure, enjoying each other's company and making memories I know I'll treasure forever," she stated. "We laughed, explored, soaked up the sunshine and enjoyed every minute of our time away together. By the end, neither of us wanted it to be over!"
Shaw detailed the unexpected nature of her breakup with Greenfield in an earlier interview in April, stating that "the rug was pulled from under her feet." She had broken down in tears in February discussing the "messy and unexpected" end to their 11-year relationship.
During this challenging period, Shaw also found joy in becoming a grandmother. Her son Corey's girlfriend, Erin, gave birth to a baby boy named Colton in March. Shaw described the arrival of her grandson as a source of significant joy and love.
Reflecting on her personal growth, Shaw emphasized her commitment to self-love and navigating life's difficulties with newfound tools. She noted that her decision to quit alcohol six years prior had equipped her to handle the breakup sober. "Thank god I have got the tools to navigate this. And thank god it's been six years of not drinking, six years of really dedicating my life to my personal development," she said.
Shaw and Greenfield became engaged in 2014 and welcomed their son Rafferty in 2015. The pair confirmed their split in January. Shaw's previous marriage was to Heart FM presenter Jason King from 2009 to 2012.
