Suri Noelle, the 20-year-old daughter of actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, made her British acting debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on August 6, 2026. She performed in a queer adaptation of William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to an audience of 33 people.
Noelle, who has legally changed her surname from Cruise to Noelle, played four roles in the production: Helena, a mustardseed, a flute, and a seed. The show featured eight fellow students from Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. One audience member described her performance as "incredible" and stated, "She genuinely stole the show, she was excellent."
The performance took place at a pop-up venue on St. Andrew's Square with a capacity of 68. Despite her famous parents, the venue was less than half full for the lunchtime performance. Noelle is participating in the production's two-week run in Edinburgh. Her name was not listed in the program, reportedly to avoid drawing attention to her famous parents.
The program for the show noted that the students were bringing their work to Scotland, the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, the founder of Carnegie Mellon University. This marked a return of the institution's creative work to its origins while showcasing emerging artists on an international stage.
Noelle recently graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in 2024. She has reportedly rejected "nepo-baby" privileges, living in a standard college dorm room and sharing campus housing with a roommate. Her appearance at the festival comes after Apple Martin, daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, made a surprise singing debut the previous year, which also drew criticism regarding nepotism. Martin is also slated to star in her first film late next year.
