Nicholas Braun, the actor best known for his role as Greg Hirsch on the HBO series Succession, was ordered to refrain from using alcohol and any narcotic drugs or controlled substances as a condition of his bail following a DUI arrest in New Hampshire late last month, court records show.
Braun, 37, pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of DUI-Impairment and a violation for operating a vehicle without lights on after his arrest on Aug. 29, according to documents obtained by Page Six. The restriction barring “any use of alcohol, and use of any narcotic drug or controlled substance” was included in the terms of his release.
The actor’s scheduled arraignment for a Tuesday date was canceled, and a trial is expected to take place in January, the outlet reported. Braun spent about an hour in Carroll County jail after his arrest, TMZ reported, and no mugshot was taken because police booking cameras were not operating properly at the time.
Insiders told Page Six that Braun had been in New Hampshire to attend a wedding. Representatives for Braun did not immediately respond to requests for comment reported by Page Six and Page Six noted the documents as the source for the bail terms.
Braun is also known in New York City as the owner of several hospitality establishments, including Ray’s Bar, Pebble Bar, S&P Lunch and Jac’s on Bond. The court-ordered limitations on alcohol and controlled substances do not address his business interests and appear tied specifically to the conditions of his criminal release.
Braun rose to wider recognition for his portrayal of Greg Hirsch, nicknamed “Cousin Greg,” on Succession, appearing across the show’s four seasons from 2018 to 2023. He earned three Emmy nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series. His film credits include roles in Princess Protection Program (2009), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), How to Be Single (2016) and Cat Person (2023).
Under New Hampshire law, DUI-Impairment is treated as a criminal offense; court documents provided the basis for the bail restriction but did not detail any testing or results from law enforcement at the time of the arrest. The case will proceed through the state court system, and a January trial date is anticipated according to reporting.
Prosecutors, defense counsel and court officials had not filed additional public statements in the days following the arrest, and further procedural dates were not listed in the materials reviewed by Page Six. Braun’s legal team will address the charges as the case moves toward the expected trial. The actor’s representatives and the court did not immediately provide additional comment to media outlets.
