John Whaite, the Strictly star and 2012 Great British Bake Off winner, has announced he is quitting OnlyFans, signaling a new chapter in his life. Whaite rose to fame after winning GBBO in 2012 and later joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing. He had rejoined OnlyFans earlier this year after saying his 12-year television career hadn’t set him alight anymore, but on Monday he said he would step away to focus on his bakery business.

On Instagram, Whaite explained his decision: 'I'm leaving OnlyFans. Life has shifted in a way I couldn't have predicted — Ruff Puff Bakehouse and Ruff Puff Brownies have taken up so much of my time, but in the best possible way. They've reminded me of a talent I'd neglected, and given me a new respect for the craft that first set me on this path all those years ago.' He added that working side by side with the team has shown him that his value isn't in muscles or body image — it's in building, baking, and sharing. 'For the first time since Bake Off 13 years ago, I feel a true sense of purpose again. This isn't the end of something, it's the start of a new chapter — one rooted in passion, creativity, and community. And I couldn't be more ready.' He thanked the OnlyFans community for their support as he began this transition.

Whaite’s decision comes amid continuing fallout from his OnlyFans ties. In March he accused Waitrose of removing his recipes from its website, saying the links to his work were redirected to Guest Recipes from other chefs and that his YouTube videos with the retailer had disappeared. He suggested the changes were connected to his OnlyFans presence. A Waitrose spokesperson told The Sun that the retailer regularly reviews recipes and refreshes its site and that it was grateful for John’s work.

Since turning his attention to Ruff Puff Bakehouse and Ruff Puff Brownies, Whaite has described the new focus as taking up 'so much of my time, but in the best possible way' and as a chance to revisit a craft that originally set him on his path. 'For the first time since Bake Off 13 years ago, I feel a true sense of purpose again,' he said, underscoring that the shift is about passion, creativity, and community rather than body image.

Reaction from friends and fans was swift. Lisa Faulkner posted, 'I love you John Whaite,' while Strictly professional Nancy Xu Xi added purple-heart emojis in supportive comments. The development comes as Whaite continues to balance television appearances with his growing baking brand.
