Alexis Warr, a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, has announced her separation from her husband, Jake Burton. The 26-year-old US dancer confirmed the news on Instagram on Tuesday, stating that the decision to separate was made "with the greatest respect for each other."
Warr and Burton, who were married in 2018, were childhood sweethearts. "Whilst this hasn't been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we're each other's biggest cheerleaders," Warr wrote in her statement. She added that the couple intends to navigate this "the rest of our life change" privately.
Warr, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, married Burton, a pediatric dental resident, in November 2018 at the Provo City Center Temple. Her Instagram account still features posts dedicated to her life with Burton, including one from October where she celebrated him passing his dental school exams. "Couldn’t be more grateful for his heart, his drive, and the way he supports and loves me through it all," she had written.
Warr made her debut on Strictly Come Dancing last year, partnered with TikTok star George Clarke. She previously won the US show So You Think You Can Dance in 2022, dedicating her win to her mother who was battling brain cancer. She was the first ballroom dancer to win the title of America's Favourite Dancer. Following her win, she joined the professional lineup of Dancing With The Stars in 2024 before moving to Strictly.
Recently, Warr completed back-to-back live tours for Strictly, including the Live Arena Tour and the Pro Tour. It has also been confirmed that she will return for the 2026 series of Strictly Come Dancing. The upcoming season will feature new professional dancers, while judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Head Judge Shirley Ballas are set to return. The show will also have new hosts: Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe, following the departure of Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
