Stockard Channing, 82, made a notable return to the red carpet for the European premiere of "Practical Magic 2" in London on Aug. 26, her first such appearance in two years. The actress had embraced a reclusive lifestyle in the United Kingdom, a decision influenced by the death of her longtime partner, producer Daniel Gilham, in 2014.
Channing, who reprises her role as Aunt Franny in the sequel, appeared in a blue suit paired with a white button-down shirt and chainlink jewelry. The day following the premiere, she was seen in a monochrome emerald green outfit for a photo call. The "Practical Magic" sequel reunites stars Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, and Dianne Wiest, 28 years after the original film's release.
She began living in London shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. In an essay for The Sunday Times, Channing stated she was "happy being a recluse" after living alone since Gilham's passing. She described his death as "more devastating than I realized; it had a lag effect."
Her daily routine in the UK involves waking up around 7 a.m. with her dog. She engages in some exercise by 10 a.m., though she admitted to sometimes skipping it. Lunch serves as her first meal of the day, and while she can follow recipes, she occasionally gives her ramen to her dog if it doesn't turn out well. Channing noted that while she combs her hair when leaving her apartment, her wardrobe primarily consists of outfits from the 1980s and 1990s, and she does not consider herself particularly beautiful, stating, "I'm just me, take it or leave it."
