Netflix drama Adolescence’s cast and creative team reunited at BAFTA’s TV Tea Party in Beverly Hills on Saturday as the four-part series heads into the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards with 13 nominations.

Among those attending the event at The Maybourne Beverly Hills Hotel were 15-year-old breakout star Owen Cooper, who is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor and could become the youngest male acting winner in Emmy history; co-creator, co-writer and leading actor Stephen Graham, who is up for Outstanding Lead Actor; and Ashley Walters, nominated in the supporting actor category for his role as DI Luke Bascombe. Producer Mark Herbert and director Philip Barantini were also present.

Adolescence is among the front-runners at the television awards after earning nominations across acting and program categories. The limited series is nominated for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series alongside Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and The Penguin. In the supporting actor category, Cooper and Walters face competition from Javier Bardem for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Bill Camp for Presumed Innocent, Peter Sarsgaard for Presumed Innocent, and Rob Delaney for Dying for Sex.

The four-episode drama follows the Miller family after their 13-year-old son Jamie is arrested for the fatal stabbing of a classmate amid online misogynistic influence. Graham co-created and co-wrote the series and also stars in it. Cooper, who plays Jamie, was selected from about 500 candidates and had no previous acting credits; he comes from a working-class estate in Warrington and has no family background in the industry.

Adolescence recently won two major prizes at the 2025 National Television Awards: Best New Drama and Best Drama Performance for Cooper. Cooper did not attend the U.K. ceremony, having travelled to the United States ahead of the Emmys. His co-star Amari Bacchus accepted the award on his behalf and played a pre-recorded video message from Cooper in which the actor said, "Never could I have believed that this show, Adolescence, would change my life in the way that it has. It’s the fact that the viewers who voted for this, it just shows what a powerful, impactful show that we all got to make."

The BAFTA event drew other British talent in town for awards season, including Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt, who attended following the release of the third and final film in the franchise. Attendees also included actors Ruth Connell and Jimmy Akingbola, and veteran stars photographed alongside the Adolescence cast included Dolph Lundgren and Jacqueline Bisset.

British nominees across other Emmy categories this year include Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Aimee Lou Wood and Jason Isaacs for The White Lotus, and Bella Ramsey for The Last of Us. The 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony is set for Sunday, where industry attention will focus on whether Adolescence converts its multiple nominations into wins.

Representatives for Netflix and the series’ production did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the BAFTA event or Emmy prospects. The series has generated attention from critics and viewers for its portrayal of family dynamics and the online influences that are central to its plot.
