The next generation of witches stepped out in style as Joey King and Maisie Williams attended the premiere of "Practical Magic 2" at London's Leicester Square Odeon on Tuesday. The actresses, who will play the daughters of Sandra Bullock's character, Kylie and Antonia, captured attention with their fashionable ensembles.
King, 27, sported newly dyed red hair and a striking sheer white and yellow gown with a voluminous skirt. Williams, 29, opted for a chic red corset-style dress that showcased her tattoos. They were joined by original cast members Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, who are reprising their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, respectively.
. Kidman wore a custom silver Chanel gown, while Bullock chose a strapless leopard print dress from Givenchy, complemented by black strappy heels. The trio posed amidst an atmosphere set with rows of candles.
Kidman and Bullock, who are also executive producers on the Warner Bros. Pictures film, have been actively engaging audiences during the press tour. Earlier this month, they surprised fans at a Cinespia screening of the 1998 original film at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. Bullock remarked on the film's suitability for a cemetery setting, while Kidman expressed gratitude for the support that led to the second film's production.
"Practical Magic 2" is based on Alice Hoffman's 2021 sequel story, "The Book of Magic," and is set 25 years after the original. The plot synopsis indicates that the Owens women will reunite and travel from their Massachusetts home to the United Kingdom to confront the source of their magic and protect the next generation of their family. The film also features Lee Pace and Solly McLeod.
Nicole Kidman confirmed in 2024 that she and Sandra Bullock would be reprising their roles as the orphaned sisters, who hail from a long lineage of witches. The original film, which also starred Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest as their eccentric aunts, depicted the characters embracing their magical heritage. Akiva Goldsman, a co-writer of the 1998 script, returned to write the sequel alongside Kelly Marcel and Georgia Pritchett. Susanne Bier directed the new installment.
Despite the original "Practical Magic" earning $68.3 million globally against a $75 million budget, it developed a significant cult following. Hoffman's decision to write a sequel was inspired by fan demand for continuations of the characters' stories, leading her to explore their history and origins in 1960s New York City's Greenwich Village for "The Book of Magic."
The new film is scheduled for release on September 11. .
