The announcement of the 2026 Spilt Milk festival lineup has drawn significant criticism from fans, with many expressing disappointment on social media and labeling the bill as the "deadest" to date. The inclusion of Lewis Capaldi and Raye as headliners failed to impress a large segment of the audience, who accused organizers of a major downgrade from the 2025 lineup, which featured Kendrick Lamar and Doechii.
Social media platforms were flooded with negative reactions following the poster's release. Comments ranged from "Might be the deadest st I ever seen" and "This is so st I will be skipping" to more measured critiques like "Two-hour wait for a doodoo line-up." Some users sarcastically praised organizers for "ragebait," questioning how the festival could transition from its 2025 roster to the current offering.
Much of the frustration appears to stem from high expectations fueled by months of online speculation. Some fans had anticipated performances from artists like A$AP Rocky and Tate McRae. "Wanted A$AP Rocky, got Lewis Capaldi," one disappointed festivalgoer stated.
Capaldi is set to return to Australia less than a year after his sold-out arena concerts in December. Both Capaldi and Raye are Spilt Milk exclusives for Australia in 2026, meaning they will not be performing at other festivals in the country during that period.
The exclusivity of Raye's performance also proved divisive, particularly for those who had hoped for standalone shows from the "Where Is My Husband?" singer. The Grammy-winning artist's appearance being limited to Spilt Milk means fans unable or unwilling to attend the festival may miss the opportunity to see her perform live in Australia.
However, not all feedback was negative. Some supporters praised the organizers for securing both Raye and Capaldi as exclusive acts. "Y'all did amazing getting both Raye and Lewis in as exclusives. They're amazing vocalists and know how to tell a story," one fan commented, adding that the event would likely sell well regardless of the backlash.
Beyond the headliners, the festival will feature international artists including Irish DJ and producer Kettama, and American rapper Baby Keem. American soul-pop artist Remi Wolf and British singer-songwriter Maisie Peters are also slated to perform.
The festival also aims to showcase Australian talent, with Adelaide indie-pop band Pash and established indie rockers DMA's among the local acts. Electronic artists Tobiahs and Harry Hayes, along with rising pop singer Aleksiah, are also on the bill. Some attendees highlighted Kettama and Harry Hayes as potential draws for electronic music fans.
The 2026 Spilt Milk tour is scheduled to begin in Canberra on December 12, followed by dates in the Gold Coast on December 13, Geelong on December 19, and concluding in Perth on December 20.
