Teifion Sussex, a VFX performer from Somerset, has described his role in the upcoming film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" as a lifelong dream realized. Sussex utilized motion capture technology, a technique where actors wear specialized suits to physically embody digital characters, to bring the iconic superhero to life.

Oscar De Mello, who manages The Shed in Bristol, a facility employing motion capture, explained that performing in MoCap requires a unique skillset, often involving larger, more exaggerated movements. "It enables things that wouldn't otherwise be possible," De Mello stated. "Motion capture isn't necessarily cheap, it's probably got more affordable as the process has become more efficient but you still need to do it in a studio because you need controlled conditions."

He further elaborated that the technology is a versatile tool that can be adapted for various objectives, allowing filmmakers to create scenes within a television show or film that might otherwise be impractical. For Sussex, this meant embodying Spider-Man as he swung through New York or battled with the Incredible Hulk.

A man stood with his thumb up looking past the camera. He is wearing black overalls with green patches on where white balls sit. He is also wearing a hat with white dots on.

Sussex's journey to playing the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has been a long-held ambition, culminating in his participation in the new "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" production.
