Sofia Vergara appeared on the red carpet at the America's Got Talent semi-finals in Pasadena on Tuesday evening, two days after she was rushed to an emergency room for an eye allergy that led her to cancel plans to attend the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The 53-year-old actress, a judge on the competition series, wore a black strapless velvet jumpsuit embellished with silver sequin stars and posed for photographers at the Hotel Dena before taking her seat alongside fellow judges. Vergara later posted a video on Instagram from her judges' chair next to Simon Cowell, writing, "It's nearly showtime!" as the live broadcast approached.

Vergara announced the medical incident on Instagram, saying she had "made it to the ER" and apologizing for canceling her Emmy appearance. In her post she described the problem as the "craziest eye" allergy and shared footage from a hospital bed and using an eye-rinse faucet. She did not provide a formal medical diagnosis in the post.

Fellow entertainers responded to Vergara's social-media updates with well wishes. America's Got Talent host Terry Crews wrote, "Oh no! Get well soon!" Rapper Snoop Dogg posted a praying-hands emoji. Model Linda Evangelista advised seeking dermatological care, and DJ Diplo and others offered supportive comments.

Vergara has been a judge on America's Got Talent since 2019; media reports have previously noted her compensation for the series. On Tuesday, she joined judges including Simon Cowell, Mel C and Howie Mandel on the red carpet. Mel C drew attention for a red, form-fitting outfit and thigh-high boots, while Cowell wore his customary black T-shirt and jeans and Mandel appeared in an all-black suit.

The Emmy Awards took place over the weekend, and Vergara's absence was noted among attendees and nominees. A five-time Emmy nominee for her work on television, Vergara did not give additional public comment about missing the ceremony beyond her social-media update and the footage shared from the emergency visit.

Producers of America's Got Talent proceeded with the semi-final episode as scheduled. Vergara's appearance on Tuesday marked her return to the live stage and to promotional duties for the show following the health incident. She continued to participate in the evening's activities and public appearances in Pasadena.

Vergara's representatives did not immediately provide further details about the eye condition or her current medical status beyond her own posts. The actress's Instagram updates and public appearance indicated she was well enough to resume professional engagements two days after seeking emergency care.
