Sofía Vergara missed a planned presenting appearance at the Emmy Awards on Sunday after an eye allergy flared just before she left for the ceremony, the actress and television personality said on Instagram.

Vergara shared photos of a swollen eye, a hospital bed and herself rinsing her eye at a faucet, and wrote that she went to the emergency room for treatment. "Didnt make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER 🤣😩sorry I had to cancel! Craziest eye allergie right before getting in the car!🤣🤣" she posted.

Vergara had been scheduled to present during the ceremony but withdrew after the sudden allergic reaction. She serves as a judge on America's Got Talent and has maintained a prominent profile on television and in film for years.

The missed appearance continues a mixed track record for Vergara at the Emmys. She earned multiple nominations for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on Modern Family and a nomination for her performance in Griselda, but she has not won an individual Emmy. Modern Family, however, was awarded Outstanding Comedy Series five consecutive times from 2010 through 2014, milestones Vergara and her castmates celebrated.

In her social-media post, Vergara included images that documented the episode and showed medical staff attending to her. She did not provide further medical details beyond noting that she received treatment in the emergency room.

Representatives for Vergara did not immediately respond to requests for additional comment. The Emmy Awards took place Sunday; organizers did not issue a statement about her absence.

Vergara has appeared at major public events this year, and the sudden allergic reaction underscores how quickly health issues can affect planned appearances by high-profile talent. The actress's social-media post closed with a lighthearted tone despite the disruption, and she later continued public engagements after receiving care.
