Apple TV+ is set to release the sixth season of its spy thriller "Slow Horses" on Wednesday, September 16. Fans eager to start watching can access new episodes as early as 9 p.m. ET on Tuesdays, the night before the official premiere date. The season will consist of six episodes, with subsequent installments dropping weekly until the finale on October 21.

Season 6 marks a significant tonal shift from its predecessors. While previous seasons have been lauded for their humor, the upcoming season will find the agents of Slough House facing life-threatening situations, with "all of them" having "hits out" on them. The official synopsis from Apple TV+ states that "Season 6 sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge."

The new season draws from the sixth and seventh books in Mick Herron’s Slough House series: "Joe Country" and "Slough House." "Joe Country" follows Catherine Standish as she confronts her past, Louisa Guy reflects on lost love, and a new recruit, Lech Wicinski, seeks to uncover who ruined his career. Meanwhile, Diana Taverner faces challenges in her leadership role, potentially needing to make deals with a "familiar old devil." The seventh book, "Slough House," depicts the consequences of Brexit on the disgraced MI5 agents, with Slough House erased from official records and its members dying under unusual circumstances. The agents grow paranoid, questioning if they are targets in a London where a new populist movement is gaining traction and the old order operates on a transactional basis.

Viewers can expect a return of familiar faces, including Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner, and Jack Lowden as River Cartwright. Notably, Olivia Cooke reprises her role as Sidonie “Sid” Baker, a character from the first season. Other returning cast members include Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, and Tom Brooke. New additions to the cast for Season 6 include Lenny Rush, Harry Lloyd, and Kyle Soller, alongside established actors like Hugo Weaving and Jonathan Pryce.

Apple TV+ renewed "Slow Horses" for a seventh season prior to the sixth season's premiere. The renewal announcement revealed that Season 7 will center on Lamb and his team attempting to identify and neutralize a mole within the British government to prevent the state's collapse.

"Slow Horses" is available for streaming on Apple TV+. The service offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers, with a single ad-free streaming plan priced at $14.99 per month. A bundle including Apple TV+ and Peacock is also available starting at $14.99 per month.
