Slipknot guitarist Jim Root posted a cryptic message to fans on Sunday, following reports that fellow band member Sid Wilson had been fired from the heavy metal group. Wilson, who has served as the band's DJ and keyboardist for nearly three decades, was reportedly dismissed on Friday night, according to TMZ.
Root, 54, shared his thoughts via Instagram Stories, writing, "Don’t believe everything you read." He continued, "Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile (sic). Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information." The guitarist did not offer further context regarding the alleged firing and was unavailable for immediate comment.
Neither Wilson nor Slipknot has publicly addressed the rumors. Wilson, 49, joined Slipknot in 1998, a year before the release of their self-titled debut album. He performed under the stage name "#0" and was responsible for keyboards, turntables, and sound effects for 28 years.
This news follows reports from March that Wilson and his former fiancée, Kelly Osbourne, had called off their engagement. The couple, who share a 3-year-old son, Sidney, had reportedly been facing relationship challenges for some time. An insider previously told the Daily Mail that Osbourne had been struggling with the loss of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July 2025, and that this grief had impacted her relationship with Wilson.
