Passengers on the SkyScreamer ride at Six Flags Over Georgia were left hanging high in the air for approximately 10 minutes following a "technical delay." The amusement park stated that the ride's safety system functioned as intended during the incident.
The SkyScreamer, described on the park's website as a swing ride that lifts passengers 260 feet into the air, experienced a pause in operation. Six Flags Over Georgia officials compared the issue to a "check engine light" on a vehicle.
"The safety of our guests and team members is a top priority," a spokesperson for Six Flags Over Georgia told Fox News Digital. "The ride experienced a technical delay (similar to a check engine light) that paused its operation. Its safety system performed as designed, keeping all guests safe."
Following a comprehensive systems check, the ride was returned to its loading position, and all passengers were able to exit safely. One rider captured the event on video, expressing surprise at being stuck while suspended.
Reports indicate that the rider who recorded the footage chose to ride the SkyScreamer again two days after the incident.
