Actor Simon Pegg, 56, has detailed how his commitment to sobriety and a rigorous fitness routine contributed to his current physical transformation. Pegg recently marked 16 years of sobriety, a milestone he says has been crucial to his well-being.

Pegg spoke about his past struggles with heavy drinking, describing periods of blacking out during Hollywood trips. He stated that seeking help at The Priory in 2010 was a pivotal moment, preventing what he believes would have been a fatal outcome.

Fitness Routine

Pegg attributes his toned physique to a consistent exercise program that includes daily 10km runs, circuit training, and strength workouts. "After I quit drinking I decided to get in shape," Pegg told The Sunday Times. "There was something positive about just looking after myself, and I love working out because it gets endorphins flowing and gives me a routine."

He expressed a desire to live a long life, contrasting his current vitality with how he perceived older individuals in his youth. "The guys that were 56 when I was a kid seemed like my f***ing grandad, and I just want to live for a long time. Because, you know what? I like life."

Fame and Alcoholism

When asked if fame had influenced his alcoholism, Pegg asserted that his struggles predated his public profile. "Fame didn't cause it, it might have exacerbated it at times and thrown it into sharper relief but, no, it was in me before and just happened slightly in public rather than in private," he explained.

Pegg's current appearance marks a notable contrast to some of his past roles, including his portrayal of the out-of-shape Dennis in the 2007 film Run Fatboy Run. This physical change has been noticed by fans, some of whom have also expressed hopes for a reunion with frequent collaborator Nick Frost.

Collaborations and Future Projects

Pegg and Frost, who starred together in the cult classic sitcom Spaced and Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End), recently had dinner together, sparking speculation about potential new projects. Frost indicated that he, Pegg, and Wright are open to future collaborations, even if it means revisiting their characters at an older age. Pegg also previously teased the possibility of a fourth Cornetto film.

The pair, who also worked together on the series Truth Seekers, have their own production company and maintain regular contact.
