Sid Wilson has officially severed ties with the heavy metal band Slipknot, updating his Instagram bio to reflect his departure. The DJ and keyboardist, who joined the group before the release of their 1999 self-titled debut album, now lists his affiliation as "@slipknot 1997-2026," signaling the end of his nearly 30-year tenure.

Slipknot confirmed Wilson's exit in a statement released Friday via the official Instagram account for their music festival, Knotfest. "Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson," the statement read. "We wish him the best in his future endeavors."

Reports from TMZ suggest Wilson's ousting was a long time coming, with bandmates having grown tired of his behavior. The band's official statement followed a period of mixed messaging. They initially deleted an Instagram post announcing Wilson's departure, and guitarist Jim Root had previously shared a cryptic message on Instagram Stories, advising followers to "Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile (sic). Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information."

Wilson himself has not directly commented on his departure, aside from the subtle change to his social media profile. His exit from Slipknot occurs several months after it was reported that he and his ex-fiancée, Kelly Osbourne, called off their engagement. The couple, who dated for four years, share a 3-year-old son named Sidney.

Osbourne publicly reacted to Wilson's firing shortly after the news broke, posting a message on Instagram Stories that she later deleted. In the posts, she wrote, "Wake the f–k up and take some responsibility I will not take your s–t anymore! I’m done." She further stated, "I want to be happy and I have a beautiful son to raise. Leave me alone. Let me heal. I can’t protect you from yourself anymore." In a subsequent post, she added, "Also while I’m at it can I have my dogs back and all my possessions. Oh yeah and maybe some child support?"
