Shirley MacLaine, 92, has sent a rare video message to fans expressing her affection ahead of a screening of her 1969 film “Sweet Charity” in the Hamptons. The Oscar winner shared the message on Instagram, wishing fans at the Southampton Playhouse well.

"Wish I could be with you," MacLaine said in the video. "I would like to see ‘Sweet Charity’ again. Now, while you’re watching it, remember how hard we worked." She added with a touch of humor, "And between you and me, it didn’t do very well, so I hope you guys like it."

The legendary actress concluded her message with "Much love," and blew a kiss to the camera. Social media users responded with excitement, with many calling MacLaine a "living legend" and celebrating her enduring career.

In the 1969 musical comedy directed by Bob Fosse, MacLaine starred as Charity Hope Valentine, a taxi dancer working at a Times Square dance hall. The film, though met with mixed reviews, received three Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, and Best Score of a Musical Picture. MacLaine's performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and a Laurel Award nomination for top female comedy performance.

MacLaine, known for her roles in films such as “Terms of Endearment,” was last seen in April, shortly before her 92nd birthday, leaving a restaurant in Malibu, California. She was observed being assisted by a companion while exiting the establishment.

Earlier this year, in March, she was photographed enjoying a beer and oysters in Malibu. MacLaine has previously attributed her longevity and enduring energy to her extensive background in dance, which began at age 3 and continued until she was about 67. She told People magazine in April 2024 that her dance training instilled in her discipline, a love for music, teamwork, and the ability to manage pain.

The screening of "Sweet Charity" is scheduled for August 25 at 7 p.m. ET at the Southampton Playhouse on Long Island.
