Sherri Shepherd experienced a significant fashion emergency shortly before a scheduled appearance at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The actress and comedian, 59, detailed the stressful situation in an Instagram video shared on Wednesday.
Shepherd was in Chicago to moderate a panel for the Every Child Thrives Foundation at the recently opened presidential center. However, she discovered she had forgotten to pack crucial items: her wig and shapewear. "I don't know how I forgot it but I did," she stated in the video.
To resolve the issue, Shepherd ordered new shapewear and a wig for delivery to a family member residing in the Chicago suburbs. She then attempted to use Uber to retrieve the items, but the driver canceled the trip, leaving her unable to immediately collect her belongings. "I'm trying to figure out from Uber [how to get them]... oh my gosh," she expressed, noting a lengthy wait time to resolve the situation with the ride-sharing service.
Despite the mishap, Shepherd ultimately appeared at the event with her hair styled and wearing a colorful outfit. She had expressed concern about potentially appearing "bald headed and bloated" if she could not retrieve the forgotten items.
This incident occurred amidst news earlier in the year that Shepherd's daytime program, "Sherri," will conclude after its upcoming season. Lionsgate's Debmar–Mercury cited the evolving daytime television landscape for the decision, while affirming their belief in Shepherd and the show's creative momentum, with intentions to explore other platforms.
