Shawn Mendes has publicly confirmed his relationship with Brazilian model and actress Bruna Marquezine, making their romance Instagram official on Tuesday.
Mendes, 27, shared a tribute to Marquezine, celebrating her 31st birthday with a sentimental message.
"Feliz aniversário my baby," he wrote in Portuguese, adding emojis of an angel wing and a red heart. He expressed that Marquezine "changed my life" and called her "a light and a mãe in every room you walk into." He concluded the message by stating he loves her "so, so, so much."
The couple has been romantically linked since December 2025, after they were first seen together in Brazil. .
This public confirmation follows Mendes' previous discussions about speculation regarding his sexuality. In 2024, while discussing his song "The Mountain," which includes lyrics about liking "girls or boys," Mendes addressed the rumors. He told a concert audience that discussions about his sexuality had persisted since his youth and that he found it "silly" to confine sexuality to simple categories.
"Sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it's so hard to just put into boxes," Mendes said at the time. He described the speculation as an "intrusion" and stated he was "figuring it out" for himself, as he believed everyone does.
"The real truth about my life and my sexuality is that, man, I'm just figuring it out like everyone. I don't really know sometimes, and I know other times," he explained. He added that he felt "scared" due to societal pressures and that speaking publicly was an effort "to be really brave" and "just allow [himself] to be a human and feel things."
Prior to his relationship with Marquezine, Mendes was publicly linked to Hailey Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Dr. Jocelyne Miranda. His most well-known past relationship was with singer Camila Cabello. The two collaborated on the song "Señorita" and were in an on-again, off-again relationship for over two years before their separation in 2021. They briefly rekindled their romance in 2023.
