Shaughna Phillips, known for her appearance on "Love Island," recently shared a swimwear comparison of her body 10 months after giving birth to each of her two daughters. Phillips, 32, welcomed her second daughter, Sofia, in October, approximately two and a half years after the birth of her first daughter, Lucia.
In a recent social media post, Phillips displayed her physique in a black halter-neck bikini, highlighting her abdominal muscles. She stated that her focus has shifted from achieving a "skinny" appearance to prioritizing strength and overall health. Phillips detailed this change in her approach, noting that she is no longer weighing herself, is prioritizing her calorie targets over consuming minimal calories, and has abandoned setting an "end goal weight."
Phillips attributed this change in mindset, in part, to becoming a mother. She expressed a desire to be "here as long as possible" and to be physically capable of lifting her children when necessary.
Fitness Journey
Phillips has previously been open about her fitness journey. In April, she revealed a 9kg (approximately 20lb) weight loss over four months, showcasing her progress through before-and-after videos on Instagram. She began this new fitness regimen in January, committing to exercising three to four times a week and adhering to a protein-based diet.
She shared that she was "roughly halfway to where she wants to be" and initiated her fitness journey with the goal of being able to care for her daughters in emergency situations. Phillips emphasized her consistency, stating that attending the gym three to four times a week is non-negotiable and that approximately 90% of her diet is free from ultra-processed foods. Her dietary focus includes protein intake with every meal, avoiding self-starvation or restriction, and not being overly concerned about occasional calorie deficit overages.
Phillips has also openly discussed body image, including proudly displaying her cellulite and managing a lipoedema flare-up in her arms. She described her body as one that has carried two children in three years and endured challenges but continues to strive for strength. Her fitness aspirations include being able to pick up both children simultaneously in an emergency and being able to run to them quickly.
This comes after Phillips addressed speculation last year that she had used the weight loss drug Ozempic. She refuted these claims, asserting that her significant weight loss was the result of a dedicated eating and exercise plan that took considerable time to achieve. Previously, she had lost almost six stone.
