Sharon Stone, 67, is the face of Mugler’s newly released re/edit archive capsule and appears in campaign images that echo the cinematic glamour of the 1990s.
The photographs, released by the fashion house to coincide with the capsule’s debut, show Stone in an all-black ensemble as she leans over a reclining male model, hands on his thighs while he is shown in underwear. The outfit cited in Mugler’s promotional material is a pinstripe wool suit jacket paired with a straight slit skirt inspired by the brand’s Fall–Winter 1998–1999 collection.
Mugler said the re/edit capsule revisits 24 archival silhouettes and was inspired by 1990s movie thrillers and the house’s photographic history. The release draws on looks from across the Thierry Mugler runway archive, including Hiver Pop (F/W 1985–86), Hiver Russe (F/W 1986–87), Les Cow-Boys (S/S 1992), Cirque d'Hiver (F/W 1995–96), Les Amazones (F/W 1996–97), Les Chimères (F/W 1997–98), Jeu de Paume (S/S 1998), Lingerie (F/W 1998–99) and Les Méduses (F/W 1999–2000), among others.
The brand framed Stone’s role as an embodiment of the “Mugler woman,” saying her "empowered and seductive body language" illustrates the silhouettes while articulating layered identities within the archive. Mugler noted that the capsule is the first time the house has formally re-edited the legacy archives left by its founder, Manfred Thierry Mugler, and the collection is available on mugler.com and at selected boutiques worldwide.
Stone has a long history with the house: she previously walked in a Thierry Mugler show in 1992 and has maintained a public association with the designer’s aesthetic since her breakout film roles in the early 1990s.
On screen, Stone continues to work in both film and television. She is slated to appear in the upcoming movie Nobody 2 and will return for the third and final season of the television series Euphoria. Earlier this month she attended the premiere of Nobody 2 at TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Outside her professional life, Stone has recounted aspects of her personal life in recent interviews and television appearances. On Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she confirmed reports that she had once gone on a date with rapper Nelly, saying she did not pursue a second meeting. She has also spoken publicly about difficult dating experiences and the challenges of modern dating apps.
Speaking to The Times, Stone said she did not want to use apps simply to pursue casual encounters, adding, "I didn't want to just go on Tinder and [sleep with] somebody ... It's so easy [to sleep with somebody]." She has described an encounter with a man who misrepresented himself as particularly distressing, saying she met him at a Bel-Air hotel and soon excused herself after concluding he was a heroin addict.
Stone has three adopted sons: Roan, 25; Laird, 20; and Quinn, 19. In recent interviews she has discussed the practicalities and challenges of dating while balancing family life and a public career.
Mugler’s re/edit capsule was released this month as part of a wider reassessment of the house’s archives and photographic legacy. The campaign images with Stone position the collection within the brand’s long-standing connection to theatrical, cinematic styling and the form-conscious silhouettes that have characterized Mugler’s runway history.
