Sharon Osbourne spoke publicly for the first time since the death of her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, posting an Instagram video in which she practises falconry with their daughter Kelly and thanking fans for an outpouring of support.
“I’m still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown on social media,” Sharon Osbourne wrote in the post, which she shared Friday. She added that the messages, tributes and comments “have brought me more comfort than you know” and “carried me through many nights.”
Sharon also described the falconry session — shown in the video alongside her statement — as a calming experience. “The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence,” she wrote. “They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical.”
Ozzy Osbourne, the former Black Sabbath frontman known as the “Prince of Darkness,” died July 22, 2025, at age 76 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. The family said at the time that he was “with his family and surrounded by love.” Later reports listed the cause of death as cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease.
Sharon and Ozzy were married for 43 years after tying the knot in July 1982. The couple had three children together — Aimee, Kelly and Jack — and extended family and friends joined public memorials after Ozzy’s death. Thousands of fans gathered during a funeral procession in his native Birmingham, England, on July 30, and the singer was buried in a private ceremony next to the lake of his Buckinghamshire home the following day.
Sharon’s Instagram post followed a period when family members were reported to be caring for her as she grieved. An insider told People that the couple’s children have been “rallying around her” and keeping her company.
Ozzy’s health had declined in recent years. He revealed a Parkinson’s diagnosis in January 2020 and suffered lingering effects from a 2003 quad-bike accident that led to “life-altering” neck surgery in 2022. Those ongoing issues prompted him to retire from touring in November 2023, though he made a final public appearance with Black Sabbath in July 2025.
The couple’s partnership extended beyond marriage. Sharon first met Ozzy in 1970 and became his manager in 1979 after his departure from Black Sabbath. She helped guide his solo career and later drew mainstream attention with the family reality series The Osbournes. The couple’s life together — described by Sharon at times as “wild, insane and dangerous” — was the subject of an official biopic announced in October 2021.
Their marriage included well-documented challenges. In 1989 Ozzy was arrested after an incident in which he allegedly attempted to strangle Sharon; the two later reconciled. The couple briefly split in 2016 amid reports of an affair but reunited three months later and celebrated 40 years of marriage in 2022.
In her Instagram message, Sharon closed by reiterating her gratitude to supporters. “I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way,” she wrote.
Family members, fellow musicians and fans have continued to leave tributes to Ozzy in public spaces and on social media. Sharon’s post marked her first extended public comment since the family announced Ozzy’s passing and offered a glimpse of how she has been spending time in the weeks after the funeral events.
The Osbourne family asked for privacy following Ozzy’s death. Sharon’s recent public message and shared moments with her daughter reflect both the family’s ongoing mourning and Sharon’s efforts to acknowledge the support of fans while navigating her personal grief.
