A California couple received an unexpected guest during their wedding ceremony when country music artist Shaboozey floated past on the Owens River. The spontaneous appearance occurred during a camping and tubing event known as The Wooly Run in Mammoth Lakes.
Wedding planner K. Rose Events shared a video on Instagram capturing the moment. The footage shows the couple posing for photos near the river when Shaboozey, whose birth name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, drifted by on a tube with other participants. He was observed wearing a trucker's cap and holding a beverage while smiling at the camera.
The group cheered as the couple shared a kiss for the photographer. The wedding planner emphasized that the encounter was not staged, stating, “Not a styled shoot. Not a setup. This actually happened.” The post further described the scene: “Mid-ceremony in Mammoth Lakes, CA — vows under the Sierra peaks, granite + sage as far as you can see — and Shaboozey makes a cameo coming down the river.”
According to the planner, the bride's reaction was one of surprise and amusement, with the groom also finding the situation humorous. The incident added an unforgettable element to the wedding, highlighting the unpredictable nature of events in the Eastern Sierra.
Shaboozey himself acknowledged the event, commenting on the planner's post with congratulations from himself and The Wooly Run. The viral video garnered over 12 million views and more than 585,000 likes shortly after being posted.
The Wooly Run, which took place from August 5-9, is described as an excursion for those who enjoy motorsports, the outdoors, and a relaxed pace. The trip typically involves camping in the Alabama Hills and spending several nights at a campsite along the Owens River in Mammoth.
Shaboozey recently released his fourth studio album, "The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales," on July 31. The concept album, co-created with Xaivia Inniss, tells the story of a fictional outlaw seeking revenge and features collaborations with artists such as Jamie Foxx, Gunna, Teyana Taylor, Kehlani, Sam Elliot, and Orville Peck.
