Selena Gomez has shared her aspirations of becoming a mother, posting a photo with a newborn baby to her Instagram Stories with the caption, "One day." The post on Monday offered a glimpse into her future family plans with husband Benny Blanco.

This sentiment echoes a similar remark Gomez made in October 2025. At that time, she shared a clip from the Season 2 finale of "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place," where her character, Alex Russo, was shown as a mother. Gomez accompanied the post with the text, "Alex Russo is a mommy. Hopefully one day that’ll be me."

In September 2025, Gomez, 34, revealed that she is unable to carry her own children due to medical conditions that could pose risks to both her and a potential baby's life. The singer, diagnosed with lupus in 2013 and having undergone a kidney transplant in 2017, described this as a difficult aspect of her life that she had to process. However, she has not ruled out the possibility of surrogacy or adoption, stating, "At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby."

Gomez and record producer Blanco, 38, exchanged vows in September 2025 in Santa Barbara, California. Following her public discussion about her health and fertility, Gomez addressed those who viewed her situation with pity, asserting, "Telling people when you need help or when you want help, that is not shameful. So, yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. … That’s what my life is. That’s who I am."

The couple's engagement occurred in December 2024, with Gomez announcing the news via Instagram. They had been in a relationship for over a year prior to their engagement. Gomez publicly confirmed their relationship in December 2023, noting that they had been secretly dating for six months at that point. She described Blanco as treating her exceptionally well, stating he has "treated [her] better than any human being on this planet."

Blanco has also spoken about their decision to maintain privacy around their relationship and wedding. Gomez explained her desire for privacy regarding their wedding day, stating in an appearance on the "Jennifer Hudson Show," "I didn’t want anyone to get photos of my wedding unless it was from me, and I keep my life as private as I can."
