Entertainment company Secret Cinema has applied for a premises licence to establish its first long-term venue on the Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London. The proposed venue, which has already received planning permission for a 1,500-seat capacity, aims to host a succession of immersive productions based on well-known film titles.

The licence application, currently under review by Greenwich Council, would permit the venue to operate until 11:30 p.m. on weekdays and midnight on weekends, including alcohol sales. A decision from the council is anticipated on August 11. The application has drawn objections from two local residents concerned about potential increases in noise and disturbance.

The development is part of the Greenwich Peninsula Masterplan, which designates the land for residential tower blocks after a temporary 10-year period for the venue. Secret Cinema envisions the site as a state-of-the-art, flexible space for its unique immersive theatrical experiences.

Planning permission for the venue was granted last month. The company's application to Greenwich Council for the premises license is the next step in potentially opening this permanent immersive entertainment space.
