Scott Bryce, known for his long-running role as Craig Montgomery on the soap opera "As the World Turns," has died at the age of 68. His friend, actress Lucie Arnaz, announced his passing in a since-deleted Facebook post on Sunday.
"A wonderful actor, a beautiful man and a terrific husband and father, Scott Bryce, passed tonight," Arnaz wrote, according to journalist Michael Fairman. She added, "I am going to miss his eyes, his smile, his wit, his brain, his intelligence, his talent, his bravery, his laugh and his hugs."
Bryce had been diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal and stomach cancer in 2025. Arnaz shared in her announcement that the cancer had returned.
Bryce portrayed Craig Montgomery on "As the World Turns" from 1982 to 2008. During his tenure on the show, he was involved in a notable on-screen love triangle with co-stars Meg Ryan and Frank Runyeon. He received two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 1986 and 1987 for his work on the series.
His other television credits include appearances on "Murphy Brown," "Beacon Hill," "Chicago P.D.," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and "Blue Bloods." Bryce's final acting role was in a 2024 episode of "Law & Order."
In addition to his television work, Bryce appeared in the movie "Silk Hope."
Bryce was married to Jodi Stevens. The couple celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in October. Arnaz's post mentioned Bryce's wife and their son, Jackson.
Arnaz, the daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, expressed her grief, writing, "He’s watching over you now from a place of pure joy and will always be your guide. But I hate these goodbyes. Rest in peace you marvelous, magnificent man."
