Sandra Bullock elicited laughter on The One Show on Thursday night with a racy joke directed at her "Practical Magic 2" co-star Nicole Kidman.
The actresses, who are promoting the sequel to their 1998 film, were discussing their roles when Bullock turned the conversation to Kidman's character.
"That's how I see her in real life too," Bullock said of Kidman's whimsical portrayal. "That’s what I admire most about her. She’s so incredibly free and just brave to do things that I would say, 'No, I’m going to stay home. I’m good right here where I am.'"
When host Lauren Laverne commented on Kidman's enjoyment of playing "pouncing roles," Kidman responded, "There’s only one person that would let me pounce her!"
Bullock then quipped, "Anytime she wants, publicly or privately, do it.... But when I see her coming into her room, I’m like, 'My pants are going down.'" The remark led to both actresses erupting in laughter.
"Practical Magic 2" reunites Kidman, Bullock, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing as the Owens family. Kidman reprises her role as Gillian Owens and Bullock as Sally Owens, two sisters battling a family curse.
The sequel, adapted from Alice Hoffman's 2021 story "The Book of Magic," takes place 25 years after the original film. The Owens women must unite to confront the source of their magic and protect the next generation of their family, traveling from Massachusetts to the United Kingdom.
Bullock and Kidman have been actively promoting the film, recently surprising fans at a Cinespia screening of the original "Practical Magic" in Los Angeles.
The original "Practical Magic" grossed $68.3 million globally against a $75 million budget, but has since achieved cult classic status.
The actresses appeared at a "Practical Magic 2" photocall in London, with Kidman, 59, wearing a pearl-strapped minidress, and Bullock, 62, opting for a black lace blazer dress. They were joined by Maisie Williams and Joey King, who play the daughters of Bullock's character in the sequel.
"Practical Magic 2" is scheduled for theatrical release on September 11.
