Salma Hayek has become a grandmother. The 59-year-old actress announced the arrival of her first grandchild, a boy born to her stepson, Francois Pinault Jr., and his wife, Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck.
Hayek shared the news on Instagram on Monday in a video that showed her cradling the smiling and giggling newborn. She affectionately calls the baby "Panchito," a nickname that seems to please the infant. "He seems to love it, and I cannot love him more," Hayek wrote in her caption.
The actress revealed that the baby is the "fourth living generation of Francois." Hayek has been married to billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, 64, since 2009. In addition to Francois Jr., she is stepmother to Augustin, 19, and Mathilde, 25. The couple also share an 18-year-old daughter, Valentina.
Last week, Hayek's daughter-in-law, Henckel von Donnersmarck, posted photos from "our first month as parents." The images included Hayek holding the baby, Henckel von Donnersmarck cradling her son, and the new father bottle-feeding and changing his son's diaper.
Henckel von Donnersmarck and Francois Jr. announced their engagement in March after approximately one year of dating. Their wedding date has not been publicly disclosed.
In a 2017 interview, Hayek spoke about her family, which includes her husband's three other children in addition to her biological daughter. "I’ve had that yearning, that longing, and that pain. I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one," she said, referring to Valentina. "The huge blessing I’ve had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different."
Hayek is also preparing for the September 18 U.S. theatrical release of "Without Blood," directed by Angelina Jolie. The film, based on Alessandro Baricco's novel, stars Hayek as Nina and explores themes of trauma, revenge, and reconciliation.
