Sabrina Carpenter arrived on the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet Sunday night in a red, semi-sheer Valentino gown, drawing attention ahead of a night that finds her nominated in eight categories and scheduled to perform during the broadcast.

The 26-year-old singer wore a long-sleeved, high-neck embellished dress styled with a fuzzy lilac boa, dangling silver earrings and voluminous blond curls. Her makeup included a tightly lined cat-eye and glossy lips, and she carried the look with showgirl-inspired glamour that media on the carpet noted.

Carpenter is tied with Blackpink member Rosé for the most nominations this year, each earning eight. Her nods include video of the year for "Manchild" and best album for "Short n' Sweet." Her most recent studio album, "Man's Best Friend," was released Aug. 29. She won song of the year at last year’s VMAs for "Espresso."

The red-carpet appearance comes as Carpenter is linked to a collaboration with Taylor Swift on the title track of Swift's forthcoming album, "The Life of a Showgirl." It was not clear whether Swift would attend the awards show.

Carpenter on the VMAs red carpet

Carpenter is scheduled to perform during the VMAs broadcast. Representatives for Carpenter and MTV did not immediately respond to requests for comment on her set list or whether she would include material from her new album.

The singer’s recent public appearances have often referenced vintage and high-profile looks. Earlier coverage noted she has worn a white sequined vintage Bob Mackie gown that was previously worn by Madonna at the 1991 Academy Awards and has evoked a Material Girl aesthetic in recent magazine work.

Carpenter built her profile in pop over the last several years with hit singles and albums that have earned both commercial success and industry recognition. Her run of nominations and scheduled VMAs performance on Sunday underscore her sustained presence on the contemporary pop charts and in awards-season conversation.

The VMAs ceremony continues through the evening, with winners to be announced during the live broadcast.
