Russell Crowe attended the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Nuremberg on Sunday with fiancée Britney Theriot, making a rare joint red carpet appearance at Roy Thomson Hall.

The 61-year-old actor, wearing a navy suit, pale blue shirt and tie and red-tinted aviators, arrived with Theriot, 33, who wore a dark gray cocktail dress with silver floral embroidery and metallic silver open-toe heels. The pair posed together ahead of the film’s world premiere.

Nuremberg, based on Jack El-Hai’s 2013 nonfiction book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, received a standing ovation after the screening. Crowe was joined onstage by co-stars Rami Malek, Michael Shannon, John Slattery, Leo Woodall and Richard E. Grant, as well as writer-director James Vanderbilt.

Crowe portrays Hermann Göring in the historical drama. Early reactions to his performance have generated awards-season speculation; if nominated, it would be his first Academy Award run since his 2002 lead-actor nomination for A Beautiful Mind. Crowe previously won the Academy Award for Best Actor for Gladiator.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release on Nov. 7.

Crowe and Theriot went public as a couple at the Rome premiere of Crowe’s film Poker Face in October 2022, after beginning a relationship in November 2020. The pair originally met on the set of the thriller Broken City in 2013. Theriot, a New Orleans native, is a former actress and was previously a Saints cheerleader.

Crowe was married to Danielle Spencer; they separated in 2012 and their divorce was finalized in 2018. The former couple share two sons, Charles and Tennyson.

The TIFF appearance comes as Nuremberg draws attention both for its subject matter and for performances from its ensemble cast. Crowe’s portrayal of a leading figure in the Nazi party anchors the film’s exploration of psychiatric and legal issues surrounding the postwar trials, themes outlined in El-Hai’s book and adapted by Vanderbilt for the screen.

The festival screening and subsequent reception will be watched closely by studios and awards observers as the film moves toward its theatrical release in November.
