Rosie Perez made a lighthearted appearance on NBC's Today With Jenna & Friends on Wednesday, revisiting Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing and a clip of her iconic dance in the film. Perez joked to co-host Jenna Bush Hager that if she tried that dance today, "I would be in surgery."
Bush Hager asked Perez if she still enjoyed acting as much as she did then. "I love it even more honestly," Perez replied. "I love it even more. I just want to act all the time. I learned to get out of my own way, I learned to embrace all the nervousness and just really work on my craft. And it’s great that I can pick projects now."
Later in the broadcast, Perez could not hide her surprise when the show shared photos of her accepting the Leadership Award from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. "Oh my god, look at me!" she exclaimed upon seeing the images. Bush Hager told her she looked "gorgeous," but Perez shot back, "No, I look so plump! What the hell is going on? You can’t even see my waist!" The moment drew laughs and underscored Perez’s trademark candid humor.
Perez is the latest guest host to join Bush Hager on Today With Jenna & Friends. She is set to return on Friday, Sept. 19 to host, while NBC correspondent Tom Llamas will be joining Bush Hager for Thursday’s broadcast. Today With Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
