Romeo Beckham celebrated his 23rd birthday with close family and friends at Aki, an exclusive Japanese restaurant in central London, on Friday, but his elder brother Brooklyn Beckham was not among the guests, according to a Daily Mail report.

Those in attendance included parents David, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 51; younger brother Cruz Beckham, 20, and Cruz’s girlfriend Jackie Apostel, 30; and sister Harper, 14. The restaurant has been described in reports as an exclusive venue that does not open to the public until Sept. 23.

Daily Mail reported that Romeo cut a casual, trendy figure at the dinner in a black leather jacket. Jackie Apostel wore a short black mini dress. A source close to Romeo told the Daily Mail, "It was a lovely, low key night to celebrate Romeo. There were lots of his friends there as well as the family."

The absence of Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz-Beckham, 30, was noted by guests, and the Daily Mail quoted family sources saying they do not expect the couple to attend family events going forward. The report said Brooklyn’s absence introduced an "element of sadness" for some guests, though the gathering remained focused on Romeo’s milestone.

The Beckham family frequently appears in public for celebrations and promotional events. This dinner was described in reports as a private, low-key gathering intended to mark Romeo’s 23rd birthday among close family and friends.

Representatives for the Beckham family and for Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham did not immediately comment on the report.
