Sir Rod Stewart has canceled the remainder of his U.S. tour dates after undergoing a routine coronary stent procedure. The 81-year-old singer is expected to take four weeks to recover before returning to the stage.
Stewart had already postponed shows in Cincinnati and Cleveland due to what was initially described as a minor medical procedure. A statement released Tuesday confirmed the successful stent placement and indicated that doctors are pleased with his recovery. He has reportedly returned to his normal daily activities.
The veteran musician, known for hits such as "Maggie May," "Sailing," and "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?", had 11 concerts scheduled in the U.S. in the coming weeks, including a six-date residency in Las Vegas. Information regarding refunds or rescheduling for the affected performances will be provided by the promoters and venues.
Stewart also has three dates scheduled in Mexico for September, for which tickets remain on sale.
