Rod Stewart, 81, was observed in good spirits attending a UEFA Champions League play-off match between Celtic and LASK on Wednesday night. He was joined by his 20-year-old son, Alastair, at Celtic Park in Glasgow.
The legendary singer, a noted Celtic fan, appeared to be enjoying the game as the team took a 2-0 lead before halftime. Stewart's appearance comes weeks after he canceled the remainder of his 2026 tour dates to recover from a "routine coronary stent procedure."
Stewart's team confirmed last week that he had undergone the procedure, which involves opening blocked heart arteries using a catheter. Doctors reported him to be in good health and recovering well, returning to normal daily activities. He was advised by his doctors to take four weeks to recuperate. The cancellation affected planned dates in the US and Mexico, including shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Stewart expressed his gratitude to his medical team and apologized to fans for missing the shows. "I'm already feeling better and very much on the mend," he stated on Instagram. "I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me."
This is not the first health setback Stewart has experienced recently. Earlier this year, he canceled a gig in Cincinnati due to an "unforeseen but minor medical procedure." In June, he also pulled out of a concert in California citing a respiratory infection that developed into laryngitis. He later used an oxygen tank on stage during a concert in Utah and postponed shows in Colorado due to vocal rest.
Stewart previously addressed backlash for attending Scotland's World Cup match shortly after canceling a show due to illness. He explained that he had promised his sons he would take them to a World Cup, acknowledging that the appearance was "not a good look" but that he did it for his children.
