Rita Ora drew attention on the Emmys red carpet with a revealing, thigh‑high cut gown, posing and laughing alongside her husband, filmmaker Taika Waititi, and actress Cate Blanchett as nominees and winners gathered for the televised ceremony.
Ora, who split her time between music and acting earlier in her career, wore a floor‑length dress with an unusually high side slit that emphasized her legs. Photographers captured moments of the trio joking together on the red carpet before the ceremony began as broadcasters and attendees circulated among the industry’s top contenders.
The Emmy nominations and awards night highlighted a broad field across drama, comedy and limited series. Severance, The White Lotus and The Penguin were among the heavily nominated programs; The Penguin drew 24 nominations this year, the second most of any series, while The White Lotus received 23 nominations, including multiple supporting and guest actor nods.
Nominees for Best Drama Series included Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, The Pitt, Severance, Slow Horses and The White Lotus. High‑profile performers up for lead drama acting honors included Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us, Adam Scott for Severance and Noah Wyle for The Pitt. Kathy Bates, nominated for her lead role in Matlock, was the oldest acting nominee this year at 77.
The limited and anthology categories featured a deep roster as well. Colin Farrell earned a nomination for The Penguin, with other nominees including Stephen Graham for Adolescence and Jake Gyllenhaal for Presumed Innocent. Cate Blanchett was nominated in the limited or anthology actress category for Disclaimer.
Several individual winners were announced during the ceremony. Shawn Hatosy won Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series for The Pitt, and Merritt Wever took Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her work on Severance. In comedy guest acting categories, Julianne Nicholson won Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and Bryan Cranston won Best Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. The ceremony also recognized Alan Cumming as Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program for The Traitors.
Reality and unscripted programming that earned top honors included Queer Eye, which won in the structured reality category, and Love on the Spectrum, which won for unstructured reality programming. The show list for structured reality also included Antiques Roadshow, Diners, Drive‑Ins and Dives, Love Is Blind, Shark Tank and others.
The night also noted several firsts and notable nominations. Filmmakers Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese each received their first acting Emmy nominations for guest appearances on Seth Rogen’s The Studio. Writers and directors from a range of programs were recognized in nomination lists, with names attached to the writing and directing categories for comedy, drama and limited series, including Dan Gilroy for Andor, Mike White for The White Lotus and Nathan Fielder for The Rehearsal.
Producers, networks and talent will now take stock of the evening’s results as the television season continues to evolve. The nominations and winners reflect both returning favorites and newer programs that have drawn industry attention, underscoring the breadth of scripted and unscripted television represented on this year’s Emmy stage.
