Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has maintained a consistent culinary preference for decades: a simple sandwich consisting of goat cheese and bread. Starr revealed his go-to meal during a 2021 appearance on "The Late Show" with host Stephen Colbert, where he explained his choice.

"I don’t have a lot of them anymore, but cheese," Starr told Colbert when asked about his favorite sandwich. He specified that his preference is for goat cheese. When prompted about this choice, Starr stated, "I don’t eat anything from the cow because the molecules are so big. Have you seen a cow? The molecules are so big. And that’s why if you drink a glass of milk, you’re full. With a goat, it’s a good size for our bodies."

While Starr's explanation about animal "molecules" is not scientifically supported, there are known differences between goat and cow milk. Research indicates that goat milk typically has a higher proportion of smaller fat globules and differs in its fat and protein composition compared to cow milk. These distinctions, along with how the proteins form curds during digestion, can influence how each type of milk is processed by the body. Goat cheese itself is often described as having a tangy, earthy flavor.

Content creator @domenicskitchen featured Starr's sandwich in an Instagram video series that recreates musicians' favorite sandwiches. For his version, the creator toasted bread in butter before spreading it with soft goat cheese and adding grated goat cheddar. The video garnered comments from social media users, some expressing interest in additions like salt, pepper, tomato, or shallots, while others questioned why the cheese was not melted in a grilled-cheese style.

Some users on social media also commented on Starr's claim about molecule size. One user noted, "Goat milk fat molecules are smaller and finer than cow’s milk, makes it easier to digest." Others remarked on Starr's famously unconventional tastes.

Other celebrity sandwiches recreated in the same series include Little Richard's peanut butter, banana, and honey on fried white bread, Alan Jackson's pineapple and mayonnaise on white bread, and Dolly Parton's pimento cheese on white bread.
