Actor Ricky Schroder faced criticism Tuesday for a tribute he posted to the late singer Dolly Parton, which included divisive personal views. Schroder, known for his roles in "Silver Spoons" and "NYPD Blue," was selected by Parton to play her father in the television films "Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors" (2015) and "Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love" (2016).

Following the announcement of Parton's death at age 80, Schroder shared a photo of himself with the singer on Instagram. In the post, he wrote, "I didnt agree with her advocating for Transgender & Covid Vaccine support…but Loved her anyway. Thank you for choosing me Dolly to be your Movie Daddy." The inclusion of his anti-transgender and anti-vaccine sentiments in a tribute drew significant backlash on social media.

Several public figures responded to Schroder's post. Musician Boy George suggested Schroder "shut up," while journalist Katie Couric commented "ick." Members of the rock band Garbage reportedly used an expletive to describe their reaction.

HuffPost reached out to Schroder for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
