Campbell Hatton, son of late boxer Ricky Hatton, has shared that his father's death in September last year served as a catalyst for his own recovery from severe cocaine and alcohol addiction. The 25-year-old admitted he was only "weeks" away from taking his own life and described his current presence as a "miracle."

Ricky Hatton tragically died by suicide at the age of 46. Campbell Hatton stated in an interview that his father's death became a turning point, enabling him to seek help and rebuild his life. "The heartbreaking loss of his father has become a turning point in his recovery and he has since sought help to rebuild his life," the report stated. He further explained that losing his father "did sort of save him because he needed to sort himself out."

Campbell Hatton revealed he had spent time in rehabilitation and was "off the rails." He noted a six-month period where he lost four close individuals and had struggled to come to terms with his retirement from boxing, which occurred in July of the previous year following back-to-back defeats. "Drinking was always part of that and I was getting treatment for addiction with cocaine as well. I think it all goes hand-in-hand," he said, adding, "There was no thought to the future and it’s a bit of miracle that I am still here."

Following his father's passing, Campbell announced a comeback to boxing this month after signing a multi-fight deal with Misfits Boxing. Previously, after Ricky Hatton's death, Campbell had shared that the family was taking things "one day at a time."

He also recalled a poignant moment before his father's funeral, where he revealed his father used to call him his "mini-Me." "We had so many plans coming up, so it has knocked us for six, but obviously, we are trying to be there for each other," Campbell had shared. "The outpouring of support from absolutely everyone has been amazing, so that's helping us through a lot – but yes, absolutely heartbroken."

Campbell is reportedly in a relationship with Brooke Heaton, the daughter of a close friend of his late father. The couple made their relationship public after Christmas and have been seen together on trips and at sporting events. Brooke's father, Simon Heaton, a non-league football manager, was featured in the 2023 film "Hatton," which explored the boxing legend's early life and talent.
