Richard Osman is set to return to game show television as an analyst for a new live Netflix special titled "Beat Luke Littler." He will join host Gary Lineker and feature darts champion Luke Littler in the one-off event scheduled for October 30.
The show will pit 20 amateur darts players from across the nation against the 19-year-old prodigy, also known as 'The Nuke.' Contestants have the opportunity to win a £501,000 prize if they can defeat Littler in a single leg of 501.
Osman, who previously hosted BBC's "House of Games" and co-created "Pointless," expressed his excitement about returning to the genre. "I'm sort of an analyst on it," Osman stated on his podcast, "The Rest is Entertainment." "I'm interested in the numbers."
He explained the statistical probabilities involved, noting that while Littler has an 85% chance of winning any given leg against a skilled amateur, there is a 15% chance Littler could lose all 20 legs, thus awarding the substantial prize money.
This appearance marks a return to a familiar format for Osman, who announced in March that he was stepping away from "House of Games" to focus on his "The Thursday Murder Club" novel series. He was also recently announced as the host of an upcoming ITV quiz show, "The Golden Elevators."
Osman hosted "House of Games" from its launch in 2017 until Michael Sheen took over. He continues to co-host celebrity editions of "Pointless" with Alexander Armstrong and previously fronted the BBC Two quiz show "Two Tribes."
"Beat Luke Littler" is set to air live on Netflix on October 30.
