Richard Madden, known for his role in the BBC thriller "Bodyguard," is set to star in a new Amazon Prime hostage drama titled "Trauma." In the series, Madden will portray Jim Marchant, a former Royal Marine medic who has become a doctor. The storyline involves him attempting to rescue patients after terrorists seize a London hospital during a visit from the Prime Minister.

Madden gained significant recognition and a Golden Globe for his performance as David Budd, an ex-soldier turned special protection officer in "Bodyguard." That series, which aired in 2018, saw him tasked with protecting the home secretary.

In addition to starring in "Trauma," the 40-year-old Scottish actor will also serve as an executive producer. The show is created by Geoff Bussetil, and Paramount+ will handle international distribution. Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, described the series as a "nailbiting thriller."

Madden first rose to prominence for his role in "Game of Thrones." Following his success in "Bodyguard," speculation arose about him potentially succeeding Daniel Craig as the next James Bond, though Madden has downplayed these rumors. He also appeared in the spy series "Citadel."

Madden's acting career began at 13 when he was cast in the 2000 film "Complicity." He has expressed gratitude for the diverse roles he has played throughout his career.
