Actors Richard Gere, 76, and Diana Silvers, 28, were recently seen filming scenes for their upcoming movie, "Asymmetry," in New York City's Central Park. The film centers on an unconventional romance between their characters, Ezra Blazer, a 70-year-old world-renowned author, and Alice, a 25-year-old editorial assistant.
The storyline depicts a secret affair between the two characters that begins at the dawn of the Iraq War. According to the film's logline, their connection sparks a life-changing journey, creating a private world for them. The film explores how Ezra finds vulnerability and Alice finds the courage to pursue her aspirations as a writer, until their relationship is exposed.
Producer Stacey Snider described "Asymmetry" as telling an unconventional love story that challenges preconceptions about love and power by exploring an improbable connection between individuals at very different life stages. The film began production in early July and is scheduled for release next year.
Silvers, who has previously described herself as an "old soul" and feeling like she is "85 inside," also noted in 2019 that she felt like "a 70-year-old man at heart." She appeared taller than Gere in the filming shots, standing at 5-foot-10. The actors coordinated their on-location outfits, both wearing matching baby-blue blouses.
"Asymmetry" is based on Lisa Halliday's 2018 novel of the same name, which was recognized on The New York Times's list of the most remarkable books of the 21st century. Edward Zwick is serving as the writer, producer, and director for the film adaptation.
Gere, who will celebrate his 77th birthday on August 31, is an Emmy nominee known for his roles in films such as "Pretty Woman" and "Chicago." Silvers, an actress and model, is known for her role in "The Abandons." "Asymmetry" is an adaptation of Lisa Halliday's 2018 novel.
Prior to "Asymmetry," Gere is also set to appear in Apple TV's limited series "The Off Weeks" and the thriller "Left Seat." Silvers's upcoming projects include the showbiz drama "Billy Knight," set for release on August 21, and a performance on October 17 in Boston.
