New cast member Carmella Garcia is facing early friction on Season 20 of The Real Housewives of Orange County, admitting to feeling “insecure” and “exposed” after a confrontation with fellow cast member Emily Simpson. The tension surfaced during a group dinner where Garcia felt her character was questioned by Simpson.

“My take was not that she talks too much. It was that I felt insecure and exposed because she asked a lot of questions,” Garcia stated in an exclusive clip obtained by Decider. She added, “I feel like everything that’s maybe defective is like out on the table.”

Simpson, however, defended her line of questioning, stating her intention was to get to know Garcia. "I asked a lot of questions because one, I was trying to get to know you. When I sit down at dinner with someone and I’m meeting them for the first time, I’m making an effort because I want to know who they are,” Simpson explained. She also suggested that Garcia's perceived defensiveness might have prompted her to ask more questions, noting, “And maybe I asked more questions than normal because I found it difficult to get a straight answer out of you.”

The situation escalated at Simpson's birthday party when Garcia gifted Simpson a dildo, an attempt Garcia claimed was to show she has a sense of humor. OG cast member Vicki Gunvalson interjected, reminding the group of the awkward energy shift when Simpson opened the gift in front of her children. Garcia explained she ordered eight vibrators, though the reasoning behind this remains unclear.

Castmate Tamra Judge interjected with a less-than-helpful comment, asking, “Any cl*t suckers?”

Garcia maintained that the gift was meant to make a good impression. However, Gina Kirschenheiter expressed skepticism, questioning Garcia's motives and suggesting the gift could be interpreted as showing off wealth. “It does read a little bit like does she like to flash her money around,” Kirschenheiter commented, concluding that Garcia's reasoning for the gift did not make sense, especially for someone who allegedly made Garcia feel uncomfortable.

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs Thursdays on Bravo at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
